Peace

"But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace." Proverbs 37:11

Well, I made it, and it's amazing... my heart truly beats when I'm here. So yesterday we arrived in Lusaka around 6:15 am. After going through customs and getting on the bus with the other camplifers, we arrived at the summer staff villa 38. I assumed after so many hours of traveling, that I would be allowed to rest in the villa for the day. Well, we were informed that the classrooms at the Tree of Life school were being decorated and set up today. It took less than a second to decide if we would go or rest.

On the way out to the Tree of Life, I talked with Kathryn about the school, the kids, and what she has found out while she's been here. (Kathryn will be joining me on staff next summer and will live in Zambia to do education with me) She's been here a month and has spent most of her time with the schools.  She debriefed me a little on the way out to the Tree of Life so I could have some kind of idea. When we arrived, I saw the school... it was unbelievable.

I can't believe how much the Lord has provided for these kids. Their classrooms are so spacious and will be a huge difference from having school under the trees outside. The rooms are beautiful, and the teachers screamed and danced and laughed when they saw the rooms decorated! Of course, there is always something to help with since there is so much to do here. Soooo we walked back to the houses and sized all the kids for uniforms. In the middle of all this, I took a break and walked outside to find that Joseph, the beautiful boy I sponsor to be at the Tree of Life, was playing soccer. He saw me walking up to the game and when I waved and said "Joseph!" he ran to me. It was amazing. I just held him. :) It was around 5:15 when we left the Tree of Life and came back to the villa. No time for a nap, so we showered and walked down to dinner at 6:30. I nearly fell asleep eating... we were exhausted! I fell asleep around 9:30 and slept until 8:50 the next morning... the longest time I have slept in a very very long time.

This morning our program was to go to the Tree of Life and have a meeting with the house parents, the teachers, and the kids. It was definitely needed and an amazing way to come into Zambia. I have done so much for the educational side of things and I have only received peace and joy. It's such a confirmation that full-time ministry is where I'm called to serve. My heart longs to help these teachers get what they need to provide a quality education. After the meeting, Pastor Eric prayed for us. He started his prayer with a song that all the children know and began to sang. "Tu le me Totela" chorused throughout the pavilion and I was in awe. These Zambian voices sang beautiful praises to the Lord. Amazing.

The Lord has just blessed these people and us just by being here. His grace and compassion for his broken and hurting people is SO evident. I can't explain how powerful and consuming His love is. I PRAISE Him. :)

Man Does Not Live On Bread Alone

Theme Verse for February: "Man does not live by bread along, but man lives by ever word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." Duet. 8:3 Oh man. So much has happened in February. And since it's been almost an entire month since I've blogged, I have quite a bit to share. Summary? The Lord is GOOD. I have seen His hand in so many events in my life, it's been unreal. He has swooped in time and time again, and it's beautiful and completely humbling. I hope as you read my journal entries, you are moved and shaken by the Lord's presence. I pray that God would open your eyes, and expose himself to you in a new and challenging way. Rest in him my dear friends. He is our comfort, he is our strength, he is our refuge. He is Lord, and our Lord is beautiful. February 12th Today has been an amazing day. My roommates and I woke up, went to church, was filled with the Spirit, went to the market, and came home to clean and set up more furniture in the house. Ou...

To Spare.

This morning Eli slept until 10:20.  A record. Sure he was up until 11 last night, but the fact that the small ounce of sun that trickled through the blackout curtains did not bother him is a miracle :). Unlike him, I awoke this morning delighted. Delighted because for once this summer, I woke up before him. I immediately got in the word and just rested with my coffee, with the quiet of the house, and with the presence of my King resting with me. After some much needed journalling and sitting quiet before his throne, I approached the Word. I've been reading in 1 Samuel about David and Saul.  I'm in chapter 24 today. David has run many times to get away from Saul.  At this specific moment in the Word, David has taken refuge in a cave in the Desert of En Gedi. Saul, in pursuit of David, came to the same cave without realizing David and his men were in there. He went in alone and David had an opportunity to kill him.  His men even said, "This is the day the LORD spo...

Behold, I will send you Elijah...

I have an amazing story to tell you about a little boy. He turned 4 years old this week. He is a sweet, smart, and precious boy who is already displaying the Lord's glory. When he was about a year and 6 months old, he was admitted into the hospital because of malnutrition and abandonment.   An  orphanage stepped in to care for him when no one else could. Overtime, all his friends and the housemothers knew him as a joyful boy—even though his circumstances did not seem joyful.   Although he lived in an orphanage and was taken care of, he didn't have the one-on-one parenting, love, and support he should have had by his birth parents.   He stayed in the orphanage for almost 2 years. During this time, not one family member visited him. I had the pleasure of meeting this sweet boy when I visited an orphanage one weekend in January. He was the happiest one of them all.   He ran and played with a huge smile on his face.   His personality and ...
