I want you to meet two girls that are very dear to my heart. They were both placed in my mom's group when she came during week 8 of Camp LIFE in the summer of 2010. I remember meeting them personally at the end of July, and seeing how much they impacted my mom that week. I want you to get to know them a little bit more. Here are the stories my mom recorded about both girls this past summer:
Precious Nampemba is 15 years old and has been told all of her life that she is unworthy, unloved and that she should have died when her dad did. There is so much pain reflecting in her eyes that you can feel what she feels. She lives with her mom and step-dad because her dad died in 2007. There are three other children that live in the house, all of them sleep on the floor, but Precious is not allowed to sleep close to the others. She must sleep in a corner away from everyone else. Her step-dad tells her that she does not belong in the house because she is not his daughter. Precious is told daily how useless and unwanted she is. She is not allowed to go to school because she is not worth the money it would cost. Her step-dad beats her, even to the point of not being able to walk. Because she is not worth the money, she is very rarely fed at home--it is up to her to find her own meals. To get away from the abuse, Precious ran to her aunties house, but now her step-dad forbids it. She believes there is a God, but is so hurt that He has allowed her to be abused this way that she has closed her heart to the Lord. Precious showed up one morning barely able to walk. There were bruises and welts all up and down her legs and back. She confessed that her mother had beaten her because she took too long going to the store. Unfortunately, we found out soon after that it wasn't her mother, but it was a man. She had been selling herself in order to pay for food. We found a tattoo that we believe Precious had put there herself. She is completely torn, broken, beat down, and her innocence destroyed by the devil himself. Only God can rescue her.
These stories tear my heart a part because I know that it isn't only Lilian and Precious that the devil has taken hold of, but it's the thousands of orphans that still roam the streets of the compounds. However, I fully trust and believe the Lord is providing for these kids. Here's how I know...
Last week, I was given the blessed opportunity to see Precious and Lilian, who are NOW living in the IBEX Hill compound in Family Legacy's Community Resource Center. They are rescued. They no longer live on the streets, are abused at home, or sell themselves for food. They live, laugh, and love knowing that the Almighty God has restored their lives. They sleep on mattresses, live with discipleship leaders, have sisters to love on, eat three meals a day, and attend a school in the Chaisa area. It's powerful huh? Praise the Lord for His compassion and love for His children.

Lillian Banda is 13 years old and does not attend school. She lives in a two room house and sleeps on the floor with a blanket. Both of her parents have died, so she lives with her grandmother. Her younger siblings live elsewhere because her grandmother can not afford all of them. Lillian does not go to school because they can’t afford it. She said that sometimes her grandmother provides food and sometimes she doesn't. We are so afraid she is selling herself to have food. When I took her in to the prayer room with Pastor Mutale, he confirmed what we were afraid of and has suggested that we try to get her into a CRC (Community Resource Center) that is not in the same village. Because of the neglect Lilian is getting, a social worker came to visit with her on the last day. We have hope that the Lord will provide for this sweet girl.
