I'm learning a ton about the Lord right now--about His character, His word, and His people. My church is going through a series called frequency: how can we tune in to God? It's amazing how much I've learned about myself during this series. In order to hear the Lord, I have to weed out all the distractions in my life--my thoughts, my worldly desires, and my feelings. I have also learned how important it is to truly care and take value to the voice of the Lord. When He speaks, it's truth, it's safety, and it's direction that you can trust. I figure the Lord isn't just teaching me this for no reason, considering that I found out I will be leaving for ten months in December to live in Zambia. Goodness...so many feelings and thoughts run through me daily. The Lord cares enough about me to teach me the value of hearing and listening for HIS voice, instead of my opinions or Satan's whispered lies. All this at the exact time when I'll be making decisions halfway around the world. I'm in awe of his perfected timing.
This organization, Family Legacy Missions International, has absolutely blown me away. It is so powerful working for a purpose knowing that I will see eternal impact in the kingdom. These orphans are in pain minute by minute each day, and only the hope instilled within them by our Father keeps them going. We are not only running schools, a trades program, camp life, and a sponsorship program, but we are also raising funds to build a legacy center where we can go from reaching 8,000 orphaned children to 30,000!! The point for this, is to change each child's mind--if they can begin seeing themselves as part of the Lord's royal kingdom, then they will feel a hope for something greater--for the life God intended for them. Wow... it humbles me to my knees because I see the Lord's love for his suffering children... and you want to know the coolest part about it? God is the author of it all... I see these men and women I work with striving so very very hard to just be obedient to the Lord. They come to work humbled every day because we all know that none of this would be possible if it weren't for the Lord's provision and direction of it all. Ahhh I have such a peace in this place.
